"Rwandan officials will be investigated"

JOHANNESBURG - The International Relations Department says Rwanda's
decision to expel all South African diplomats from its service will
not stop ongoing investigations into the country's officials.

The department says it will stand firm on its decision to expel four
Rwandan diplomats who were linked to the murder of former Rwandan
intelligence boss Patrick Karegeya.

Karegeya was found dead in his Sandton hotel room in December last year.

The department believes Karegeya's murder was organised by criminal
networks operating here in South Africa.

Officials say four Rwandan diplomats and another from Burundi were
expelled after investigators linked them to criminal activity.

While the department says it is disappointed by Rwanda's retaliation,
it will not tolerate the use of South African resources for crime.

The department has warned that will take strong action against anyone
found to be misusing their status to break the law.
