Tanzania Arrests 16 Al-Shabaab Suspects Over Arusha Bombings

Tanzanian police have arrested 16 suspects in connection with recent
bombings in Arusha that killed five people, Tanzania's The Guardian
reported Friday (May 30th).

Director of Criminal Investigations Isaya Mngulu said the suspects
were connected to the al-Shabaab terrorist group.

"The operation is still on as there are many suspects linked to
different bombings that happened in Arusha for the past one year,"
Mngulu told reporters.

The suspects were immediately transferred to Arusha Resident
Magistrate's Court where they faced 16 charges, including attempted
murder and enticing youths to join al-Shabaab.

The case was adjourned until June 11th.
