Ce qu'ils appellent aujourd'hui à Goma, le tshukudu, nous l'appelions, dans les années 1963-1964-1965-1966 ku Kagusa, ku Buramo, i Rushinga, i Nyakariba, mu Rwashoga, ku Muheto, i Kibabi, i Mweso, i Masisi, i Bweramana, i Nyamitabo, muri Mihanga ,... IGIHWERAHWERE. Le mot était bien trouvé.

Le tshukudu est un drôle d’engin, une sorte de trottinette géante en bois qui permet de transporter jusqu’à 100 kg de matériaux en tout genre. Dans la ville de Goma (Nord-Kivu), ils sont légions. Ils sont peu à peu devenus le symbole de la localité. Un rond-point leur est même consacré. Reportage.

 

 

Ils sont une dizaine de grands gaillards. Adossés une géante trottinette en bois à attendre le client. Tous sont « tshukudeurs », ces hommes que l’ont croise sur toutes les routes de Goma. A bord de leur trottinette, composée d’une planche d’un peu plus d’1m et deux roues, petite à l’arrière et grande à l’avant, ils transportent toutes sortes de marchandises.

 

 

« Moi, comme je n’avais pas de travail, je me suis dit que j’allais devenir "tshukudeur"
J’ai commencé par tansporter les cartons sur la tête. Au fur et à mesure, j’ai gagné un peu d’argent et j’ai pu acheter mon tshukudu », raconte Massoumbé, 19 ans, « tshukudeur » depuis maintenant six ans.
